Africa-Press – Mauritius. A delegation from the World Bank comprising the Practice Manager of the Agriculture and Food Global Practice, Mrs Shobha Shetty, the Senior Agriculture Economist, Mr Tomas Rosada Villamar, and the Acting Country Representative for Mauritius and Seychelles of the World Bank Group, Mrs Brinda Devi Dabysing, met the Attorney General, Minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security, Mr Maneesh Gobin, today, in Port-Louis.

The aim was to discuss the main challenges and priorities for investments in the agro-industry and food security sectors in Mauritius, in line with the World Bank Country Partnership Framework. Possible areas of cooperation were also discussed during the meeting.

It is recalled that the delegation from the World Bank is in Mauritius from 07 February to 16 February for a scoping mission as regards identifying areas of technical assistance to support the country’s agricultural, water, and blue economy sectors.

It is being led by Sector Leader Sustainable Development, Ms Berina Uwimbabazi, and also comprises other members such as the Agriculture Economist, Mr Pedro Arlindo, the Water Supply and Sanitation Specialist, Mr Jaime Palalane, and the Senior Fisheries Specialist, Ms Charlotte de Fontaubert. The mission also includes a visit to Rodrigues.
