Africa-Press – Mauritius. The Minister of Arts and Cultural Heritage, Mr. Avinash Teeluck, met the eleven artists who have been selected under the Artist Incubator Scheme, on Friday 23 June 2023, in Port-Louis.
In his address to the selected participants, Minister Teeluck emphasised that the Artist Incubator Scheme is a measure enunciated in the 2022-23 Budget, with the main objective of providing a conducive environment to emerging artists/groups and empower them through mentorship.
He explained that this budgetary scheme is being initially implemented on a pilot basis in the Music Sector (Song Category), and that the selected participants are all emerging artists who will benefit from the guidance of mentors selected by the Ministry.
Minister Teeluck informed that they will be provided with the necessary assistance to write lyrics, compose music, produce a song and market their artistic work in the local media, while adding that the Ministry will organise a concert for them to showcase their artistic creation.
Furthermore, the Minister reiterated the aim of the project in providing the emerging artists with all the required resources and assistance to take their first steps in the music industry.
He encouraged the emerging artists to avail of other Schemes and financial assistance being offered by the Ministry and to make judicious strategic decisions in their artistic journey so that they are able to carve a bright career in the local music industry.
