Africa-Press – Mauritius. With funding received from the Mauritius Research and Innovation Council (MRIC), under the Fast-Track innovation Scheme, Keto Angels Ltd has developed a wide range of ready-made low carbohydrate products for the purpose of commercialisation and presented the finalisation of five of those product prototypes, namely bread, pies, doughnuts, muffins and moelleux aux chocolat, on 9 September 2022 at the seat of the MRIC in Ebène.

The Director of Keto Angels, Dr Ouma Veerasamy, presented her research findings in presence of the Executive Director of MRIC, Professor Teeshan Bahorun and other stakeholders. Professor Bahorun, recalled that Fast-Track Innovation Scheme is aimed at supporting short-term innovative projects in thematic areas.

The ultimate objective of the project is the development and improvement of products and techniques that will benefit the economy as well as provide potential solutions to social challenges.

In a bid to encourage the local population to consider low diet as a valid therapeutic option, the Dr Veerasamy worked upon creating diabetes-friendly food products to make accessible ready-made low carbohydrate products that can integrate a daily diet plan.

The company, founded and incorporated in 2019, aims to become the leading provider of products in the diet and nutrition industry in Mauritius. The products have been created with ingredients that are of low glycemic index and load.
