Africa-Press – Mozambique. President Filipe Nyusi participates, this Thursday, in Johannesburg, South Africa, in the BRICS-Africa Outreach and BRICS Plus Dialogues , within the scope of the 15h BRICS Summit , which ends today.
Filipe Nyusi is one of the approximately 40 heads of state and government from Africa, South America, the Caribbean and Asia invited to dialogue with the leaders of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
The dialogue with the friends of the BRICS will take place after Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa have reached an agreement on the question of the expansion of this economic bloc.
The agreement opens the door to the organization for several countries that have expressed this interest. However, it should be noted that initially there were disagreements within the BRICS on how this expansion should be carried out.
Among the candidate countries to join the BRICS are, among others, Egypt, Algeria, Iran, Argentina and Saudi Arabia.
There is, for now, the understanding that the opening of the BRICS to more members is a sign of change in global power, that is, the path to a new world order that emphasizes multilateralism.
As defenders of the countries of the global south, the BRICS are very interested in the possibility of strengthening cooperation with the African continent, taking advantage of the free trade zone.
It is expected that, this Thursday, the final results of the fifteenth BRICS summit will be announced, which also evaluated the steps to be followed in the “de-dollarization” of commercial transactions.
The bloc currently represents twenty-three percent of the world’s GDP, forty-two percent of the population and over sixteen percent of global trade.
This summit takes place under the motto: “BRICS and Africa: Partnership for Mutually Accelerated Growth, Sustainable Development and Inclusive Multilateralism”
