Africa-Press – Mozambique. The African Development Bank Group’s new Country Manager for Mozambique, Mr Rômulo Cunha Corrêa, has formally presented his credentials to the Government of Mozambique in Maputo, marking the commencement of his official engagements in the southern African country.
Corrêa was received by Mozambique’s Foreign Affairs Minister Maria Manuela dos Santos Lucas, who reaffirmed the strong and long-standing partnership between the country and the African Development Bank.
“The African Development Bank is a strategic partner in Mozambique’s journey toward structural transformation,” the minister said.
“We greatly welcome Mr Corrêa and anticipate working closely to ensure our joint portfolio delivers tangible results for our citizens.
” In his remarks, Corrêa thanked the Government for its continued confidence in the Bank as partner of choice.
“I am deeply honoured to serve as the Country Manager for Mozambique, a nation with immense potential,” Corrêa said.
“My immediate priority is to deepen our policy dialogue and accelerate the pace of delivery across our diverse portfolio to foster sustainable, broad-based, inclusive growth across all regions.
” He highlighted the Bank Group’s active portfolio in Mozambique, comprising 39 projects with a total value of $1.6 billion.
The portfolio focuses primarily on energy (53%), transport (27%), agriculture (14%), economic governance (2%), water and sanitation (2%), education (2%), and multi-sector initiatives (0.1%).
Corrêa also met with the Minister of Finance, Carla do Rosário Fernandes Loveira, who is Mozambique’s Governor to the African Development Bank Group.
The minister also highlighted the importance of the Bank’s support in advancing Mozambique’s development priorities and achieving long-term economic transformation.
