Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambican businessman Álvaro Massingue, current president of the Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) has been elected to the position of Regional Director for Africa of the International Chamber of Logistics and Transport (CLT).
The appointment was made during the 40th Ordinary General Assembly of the CIT, which took place on 21, 22 and 23 May, in the city of Lima, Peru, and was attended by more than 200 participants, from different countries around the world and members of the association.
During the event, witnessed by the Vice Minister of Transport and Communications of Peru, Ismael Sutta Soto, and by representatives from 22 countries (South Africa, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, United States, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Uruguay and Venezuela), the Mozambique Chapter, through the Chamber of Commerce of Mozambique (CCM), was officially admitted to the Board of Directors and, as a result, elected to the position of Regional Director for Africa.
This is a historic milestone that represents a great opportunity for Mozambique to gather experience from other parts of the world with a view to boosting the development of the transport and logistics industry, which has been facing enormous challenges for several years, particularly in the areas of passenger transport and road safety.
The Lima Assembly was also marked by the adoption of the new name of the CIT, which was previously called the International Chamber of the Transport Industry, and is now called the International Chamber of Logistics and Transport, as well as by the election of the new Board of Representatives for the 2025-2027 biennium, with the following composition:
Mozambique became a member of the CIT through the affiliation of the CCM in June 2022, at the General Assembly held in Mexico.
