Africa-Press – Mozambique. The High Commissioner of Canada to the Republic of Mozambique, His Excellency Mr. Anderson Blanc, formally presented his Letters of Credence to His Excellency Mr. Daniel Francisco Chapo, President of the Republic of Mozambique, during a ceremony held on September 11, 2025, at the Presidential Palace in Maputo.

This official act marks the beginning of High Commissioner Blanc’s mandate as Canada’s most senior diplomatic representative in Mozambique. The High Commissioner expressed his deep honour in assuming this role and reaffirmed Canada’s commitment to strengthening the longstanding friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

During the meeting, both parties underscored the importance of continued collaboration and partnership toward shared prosperity and security, in line with Mozambique’s Five-Year Development Plan and Canada’s new Africa Strategy. The High Commissioner emphasized Canada’s support for enhancing the environment for investment and economic cooperation, as well as strategic investments of overseas development assistance. He highlighted a particular ambition to expand bilateral trade and investment, particularly in sectors where Canadian expertise can contribute to Mozambique’s development goals.

His Excellency President Chapo welcomed the High Commissioner and expressed appreciation for Canada’s consistent partnership and support, particularly in areas that contribute to the well-being of Mozambican citizens.
