Africa-Press – Mozambique. A group of Chinese investors wants to build two new terminals at the port of Beira, in Sofala province, to increase the port’s capacity to handle goods, Radio Mozambique reports.

The new terminals could be built on Quays Eleven and Thirteen of the port, and the project for their implementation is already in the possession of the Mozambican authorities.

The investors have already been to Sofala and found that the current capacity of the port of Beira is under pressure.

Radio Mozambique has learned that the group of investors represents Chinese and multinational companies that lead the African infrastructure construction market.

This Sunday, Prime Minister Adriano Maleiane, during his visit to China, held a meeting with the investors, and heard from Tsingshan Holding Group’s president, Xiang Guangda, a request to speed up the analysis of the project.

Maleiane gave assurances that the Mozambique counterpart was taking care of the final details, so that the increase in the port’s capacities could go ahead.

The prime minister’s visit to the People’s Republic of China ends this Monday.
