Court annuls elections in Ka-Lhamankulo in Maputo city

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Judicial Court of the Municipal District of Ka Lhamanculo (Chamanculo) , in the City of Maputo upholds Renamo Mozambique’s appeal and annuls elections in 64 Polling Stations, Sala da Paz reports.

Meanwhile, newspaper ‘Evidencias’ brought a report, yesterday evening on the Ka-Lhamankulo District Court decision. Please read below.

The Ka-Lhamankulo District Court, in the city of Maputo, has just ordered the repetition of the intermediate count at the level of that municipal district based on copies of the original notices presented by Renamo in that court.

According to TV Sucesso, an organization that has been relentless in covering these elections, this is a counting of more than 100 tables and just as happened in the Ka-Mpfumu district, in Chamanculo there may will also be criminal accountability for those individuals involved , depending on the degree of participation in the illicit act.

It should be noted that one of the directors involved in this offense claimed to have received instructions to rig the results from his ‘superior hierárquico’ (someone above him in the hierarchy], supposedly because the ‘superior hierárquico’ had received orders from above.

It is the first time in the history of local authorities in the country that courts order the repetition of the electoral election or the recount of votes in the city of Maputo.

It should be noted that there are at least two municipal districts (Ka-Mubukwana and Ka-Mavota – in which there were power outages and refusal to sign editais), where Renamo claims the disappearance of editais and original actas eleitorais ( voting minutes).

Ka-Mubukwana and Ka-Mavota are considered the most populous municipal districts in Maputo city.
