Africa-Press – Mozambique. Yesterday, the First Lady, Gueta Chapo, visited the paediatric ward in Maputo Central Hospital (HCM), where she expressed her solidarity with the children hospitalized there, with particular emphasis on the conjoined twins from Angoche district, Nampula province.
During the visit, the wife of the President of the Republic pledged institutional support to the mother of the babies and promised to build a decent house for the family.
“We came here to visit our mother who had conjoined daughters […], and also to provide support as the Office of the First Lady, because […] we have to ensure the well-being of children, the elderly and people with disabilities,” said Gueta Chapo, visibly moved by talking to family members and health professionals.
The case of the conjoined twins gained national attention after a television report portrayed the difficulties faced by the family, who live in Angoche.

Gueta Chapo expressed her satisfaction with the level of care provided at the HCM and highlighted the technical ability of the national professionals.
“We are happy to know that our children, our babies who were born with this condition will be treated locally by our doctors; our health professionals are prepared to resolve this situation,” she stressed.
During the visit, the First Lady had the opportunity to speak with the hospitalized children and the companions that are in hospital with them, who expressed their appreciation for the treatment they received.
