Africa-Press – Mozambique. Igna Macule, Inspector General of Digital Transformation at the Ministry of Communications, claims that the National Institute of Electronic Government (INAGE) has been strengthening its technical and operational capacity in order to prevent cybercrimes in Mozambique’s public administration.
According to Macule, who was speaking on Tuesday, in Maputo, at the opening of a workshop on cybersecurity, the measures adopted by INAGE are in response to the increase in cyberattacks recorded in recent years.
“The government’s efforts have been supported by legal and strategic instruments, including the Electronic Transactions Law, which establishes the basis for secure electronic transactions. The Government is responding with clear actions, investing, cooperating, and strengthening our cyberspace defense capabilities”, she said.
The Inspector explained that cybersecurity is a global challenge that requires synergies between national and international actors. “Cybersecurity is not just a matter of technology, but also of ensuring human rights, trust, and quality of life”, she said.
A secure digital society, she said, allows every citizen to access digital public services with confidence, use digital platforms for education, healthcare, and business without fear of fraud, and trust that their personal data is protected.
According to Macule, the government has also promoted information security awareness campaigns, coordinating responses to cyber incidents, and building technical and operational capabilities in public and academic institutions.
