Africa-Press – Mozambique. Information confided to Carta de Moçambique suggests that the insurgents’ main base, ‘Siri 1′, could be overrun at any time.
According to Carta sources, the joint Mozambican, Rwandan and SADC forces waged fierce battles with the terrorists last weekend, and succeeded in occupying strategic areas allowing them to attack the base at any time.
The Carta sources did not specify oin which areas where the troops were intensifying their attacks, but it is known that, in recent days, the three forces have been working on the Mocímboa da Praia-Macomia axis, where the terrorists’ main bases are believed to be located.
Sources also say that Mozambican, Rwandan and SADC troops are monitoring Pundanhar administrative post in Palma district, where the group’s main leaders, including Ibn Omar, are believed to be hiding.
Reliable sources confirmed the tunnels were discovered in Siri 1 (not in Mbau) forest/base and they are hundreds. One tunnel has capacity to accommodate up to 10 pax https://t.co/8L9slAL1rG

Sources reveal that the allied forces are using aerial drones to monitor the enemy’s positions, both in the vicinity of ‘Siri 1′ and in the Pundanhar bush.
Defence and Security Forces (FDS), together with Rwandan troops, have recently subjected the terrorists to artillery bombardment, retaking territory previously dominated by the insurgent group. These areas include the N’Tchinga (Muidumbe) and Mbau (Mocímboa da Praia) bases, as well as the towns of Mocímboa da Praia and Ouasse (Mocímboa da Praia).
More than 3,000 people have lost their lives as a result of terrorist attacks and more than 817,000 been forced from their areas of origin over the nearly four years’ duration of the conflict.
