Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Maputo Port Development Company (MPDC) yesterday launched the “A Ver Navios” amateur photography contest, marking the 122nd anniversary of the Port of Maputo. Applications are now open.
The initiative aims to capture, through photography, the connection between the Port of Maputo and its host city—exploring the coexistence of port activity, the urban landscape, and daily life.
Photographs should capture the connection between the Port of Maputo and the surrounding city—whether through the landscape, port activity, people, vessels, the nearby neighbourhoods, or other elements that bear witness to this relationship.
Visual records are sought that reveal the port’s presence in urban life, daily life, and Maputo city’s collective memory.
The deadline to submit applications is September 15th and participation is free.
Candidates need to be at least 18 years old.
.The winning photographs will be selected by professionals in the fields of communication and photography. The results will be announced on October 14th, 2025.
The awards will include internships and training in photography, and candidates qualified in the top ten will see their works featured in an exhibition to open on November 10th, 2025.
