Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Ministry of Culture and Tourism on Tuesday issued a communique extending condolences on the death of 58-year-old Mozambican businessman Rui Monteiro, as follows.
The Ministry of Culture and Tourism hereby laments the death of businessman Rui Monteiro, in the early hours of Monday, 30 August, 2021, at the Instituto do Coração (ICOR), in Maputo City, victim of illness.
Rui Monteiro, born on September 13, 1962, in Maputo City, was one of those responsible for the growth of the tourism sector in the country, lending it his capacity and commitment.
Monteiro was entrusted with the Directorate of the Tourism department at the CTA, where he sought to bring dynamism to the institution, seeking greater appreciation for small and medium-sized companies in Mozambique, a position he occupied until his physical disappearance.
He was also Representative and Member of the Board of Directors of the companies of the Rani Group in Mozambique, Member of the Board of Directors of the companies Luambeze Investimentos and Chiluilexi Conservação e Investimentos and was a founding member of Biofund. At CTA, Rui Monteiro served also as Vice President of the Department of Tourism (2011-2014), Vice-President Chairman of the Board of Directors of CTA (2014-2017), and Chairman of the Board of the General Meeting (2019-2020),
Rui Monteiro’s life was dedicated to work and love for the country’s cause and, in particular, to the development of the tourism sector, which is one of his great legacies that will surely be followed by all.
It will be eternally missed by the entire tourism family.
In this moment of pain and consternation, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism joins the family and friends of businessman Rui Monteiro in conveying most heartfelt condolences and solidarity, asking God to comfort everyone’s hearts.
