Africa-Press – Mozambique. Sometime between 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. last Saturday, persons unknown broke into the office of Lawyer Nhampossa and stole the computer, flash drives, cell phones and various documents.

The burglary of Joao Nhampossa’s office, in his former residence in Bairro do Jardim, took place at the same time as work was being carried out in one of the apartments on the top floor.

“During the week, I saw signs of threats, and on Saturday I received calls from my neighbours informing me that my office had been broken in to. When I arrived there, I found everything turned upside down. But they weren’t just ordinary thieves, because they would have stolen other things; these people knew what they were looking for. They took everything that contained my work information, including documents. To me, it looks like intimidation,” Nhampossa commented.

He points out that the criminals left no clues and took only what interested them, leaving the rest of the documents scattered on the floor.

João Nhampossa works on controversial issues related to public law and human rights, such as the ‘hidden debts’ case, the extractive industry, the controversy over tolls and Covid-19 vaccination.

He was recently on television commenting on the Vale sale process.
