Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambique has vaccinated a million people completely against the new coronavirus, which corresponds to 6.3% of the population over 15 years old, the ministry of health said on Wednesday in a statement.
“Mozambique has 1,076,968 people completely vaccinated,” the ministry said in the document.
According to health authorities, the number of those vaccinated corresponds to 6.3% of the 17 million people, aged over 15 years, expected to be immunised by the end of 2022 under the National Vaccination Plan.
“This achievement is encouraging, given the importance of vaccines to prevent the occurrence of severe forms of the disease and for avoiding deaths due to Covid-19,” the ministry said.
The vaccination process against Covid-19 started in March in Mozambique, covering priority groups including health professionals, police officers and diabetics.
Later, on 4 August, a mass vaccination campaign was launched in the country.
