Africa-Press – Mozambique. President Filipe Nyusi pledged on Thursday to make every effort to ensure the victims of the kidnappings sweeping the country are returned to family life and that their perpetrators are brought to court to answer for their crimes.

He also asked for the cooperation of the victims and of society in general in helping neutralise the protagonists of these acts.

Filipe Nyusi was speaking at the end of a meeting with the chairmen of the Order of Doctors of Mozambique, Gilberto Manhiça, and of the Association of Muslim Businesspeople, Imraan Hussein.

The two associations had expressed concern at the wave of kidnappings affecting their members in recent days.

The meeting was attended by the ministers of the Interior, Amade Miquidade, of Health, Armindo Tiago, of Justice and Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Helena Kida, and by the director of the National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC), Nelson Valente Rego.
