Mozambique: Stock of TV decoders will be replenished by Saturday – GABINFO’s Emília Moiane

Africa-PressMozambique. Director of the Information Office (GABINFO) Emília Moiane on Thursday promised that Mozambique’s stock of television signal decoders will be replenished by Saturday in areas which are currently out of stock.

The shortage is due to intense demand for the devices following the shutdown of analogue television transmission in the country.

“TMT is making every effort so that all the points of sale where there are currently no decoders will be restocked by October 2,” Moiane said.

“So, at this moment we are facing the challenge of non-existence and not actually of the population – we still don’t have that kind of complaint. At this point, TMT has distributed over 350,000 decoders; another 60,000 landed two weeks ago, another 40,000 are disembarking within days and a batch of 110,000 decoders is coming.

“When we enter the second phase, which runs until December 31st, we will have more than 200,000 decoders available in the country,” Moiane concluded.

The GABINFO director was speaking on the sidelines of the institution’s First Coordinating Council in Marracuene, Maputo province, which ends this Friday.
