Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Mozambican government will propose to the Assembly of the Republic an increase in the retirement age in the civil service to 65 years from the current 60, Minister of State Administration and Public Service Ana Comoane has said, quoted yesterday in the ‘Noticias’ newspaper.
Minister Comoane said that the change would apply to both men and women, abandoning the current differentiation under which men retire at 60 and women at 55
Comoane reported that the proposal would provide for exceptions, in particular raising the retirement age in the judiciary, education and health services to 70 years.
The executive’s intention must be submitted to the Assembly of the Republic for its approval.
In 2021, the Assembly of the Republic set the retirement age at 60 years for all labour sectors except state employees, who have their own statute, which may now be subject to revision.
