Africa-Press – Mozambique. The President of the Republic, Daniel Chapo, today presided over the official opening of the 12th National Culture Festival (FNC) in the city of Tete. The event marks the beginning of the final phase of the country’s largest cultural event.

Under the motto “50 Years Consolidating National Unity and Peace Through Culture” the festival runs until Friday, August 22nd and celebrates the 50th anniversary of national independence, promoting social cohesion, inclusion and sustainable development by valuing the heritage and cultural diversity of the Mozambican people, according to a statement issued by the Presidency of the Republic.

The National Culture Festival falls within the priorities of the National Development Strategy (ENDE) 2025–2044, the Government’s Five-Year Plan (PQG) 2025–2029, and PESOE 2025, reaffirming the role of culture as a pillar of identity, peace, and economic development.

The presidency statement adds that, with the active involvement of the public and private sectors, youth, civil society, cultural producers and the media, the 12th National Culture Festival constitutes a true manifestation of national pride and the unifying force of Mozambique’s cultural diversity.
