Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Minister of Labour, Gender and Social Action, Ivete Alane, today granted a special holiday (tolerancia de ponto) to all workers who profess the Muslim religion on the occasion of the celebration of Eid al-Adha.
The right to suspend work does not apply to workers whose activities, by their nature, cannot, in the public interest, be interrupted.
Eid al-Adha, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, is the Muslim festival that follows the pilgrimage to Mecca.
Eid al-Adha is a major Islamic holiday celebrated by Muslims worldwide. This year, it lands on June 6, 2025. The holiday commemorates Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son and involves prayer, feasting, and acts of charity.
