Africa-Press – Mozambique. Ports and Railways of Mozambique (CFM) on Tuesday (23-01) announced the derailment, at Km 72+800 on the Ressano Garcia Line, of a train comprising 80 wagons of magnetite from South Africa.
According to CFM, “the accident – which resulted in the total derailment of five wagons and one overturned – prevents all circulation on the Ressano Garcia Line, including passenger trains, between Movene and Ressano Garcia”.
“With a view to investigating the causes of the accident,” the note continues, “as well as, and above all, re-establishing the circulation of trains on this line, an Inquiry Committee and a rescue team have already been mobilised, and are currently working to this end.”
Meanwhile, the CFM Company pronounces regret for what happened and offers its sincere apologies to the users of the Ressano Garcia Line, in particular, its valued passengers.
