Africa-Press – Mozambique. Two individuals are being detained by SERNIC (National Criminal Investigation Service) in Cabo Delgado, after being caught in possession of just over 430 kilograms of sea cucumber.
One of the detainees is an employee of the district service for economic activities in Mocimba da Praia, linked to the fishing area, said SERNIC spokesperson Noemia Joao.
Speaking to the press in Pemba on Tuesday (05-12) morning, João told reporters that the seizure occurred at the Silva Macuwa checkpoint in Ancuabe district, en route for Nampula.
João says this is the first time this year this type of product has been seized, and that a docket has already been sent to the public prosecutor’s office for subsequent steps.
