Africa-Press – Mozambique. A 42-year-old man from Palma, Cabo Delgado, with dual Mozambican and Tanzanian nationality, was detained last weekend in the city of Chimoio, the provincial capital of Manica province, on suspicion of drug trafficking.
According to the Manica police spokesperson, Mateus Mindú, the individual was arrested in possession of cocaine and cannabis sativa (‘suruma’), though the amount of drugs seized was not specified.
The individual was detained as a result of tip-off by his accomplices, Carta reports.
Police believe that the drugs come from abroad, and are working to locate other possible members of the group in order to dismantle a potential organized crime network.
Mozambique continues to be known as an international drug corridor, mostly between Asia and Europe and South Africa.
