Africa-Press – Namibia. Minister of agriculture, fisheries, water and land reform Inge Zaamwani-Kamwi paid a courtesy visit to the Office of the Hardap Governor at Mariental on Friday.
She told governor Riaan McNab she wanted to familiarise herself with the region and assess current and potential agricultural projects.
After welcoming the minister, the governor highlighted that the region is experiencing challenges in the agricultural sector and that the leaders of the region and the ministry must work together to solve these issues.
“Farmers are struggling, so we must work together to find solutions for these challenges,” McNab said.
The minister said this was exactly the reason for her visit.
“We must be mindful that there are limited resources, and we must learn to do more with the little we have at our disposal,” Zaamwani-Kamwi said.
The minister and her team visited the Roots project at Stampriet, the Inland Aquaculture Centre located at Hardap Dam, and the Hardap green scheme.
