Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Ohangwena Region holds great potential for the growth of the tourism industry, said Governor Kadiva Hamutumwa.
Hamutumwa said that the region’s untapped tourism potential can be developed to create employment opportunities and to showcase the beauty and rich history of the region.
She said that the inhabitants of the border region, which was the epicentre of the armed liberation struggle, can turn their lived pain into a fortune by telling their story — what she calls “liberation tourism.”
According to her, the people, their culture, traditional food, natural waterways, and deep sandy roads are keys to unlocking the region’s future.
“I call on all hospitality and tourism lovers to come on board and partner with the Office of the Governor to create a gem out of the Ohangwena Region. As your Regional Governor, I have prioritized tourism as a strategic priority for the region going forward,” she said.
