Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Office of the Prime Minister (OPM) has pledged to promote climate-smart, youth-led sustainable agripreneurship by providing specialised training, access to land, green financing, and environmentally friendly technologies to young Namibians.
This was outlined in the Office of the Prime Minister’s recently released Strategic Plan for 2025–2030, which sets out key strategic objectives, performance indicators, and targets that will enable the OPM to fulfil its mandate, vision, and mission.

“Integrating innovation, entrepreneurship, and environmental stewardship, this initiative transforms agriculture into a climate-smart and future-proof sector. By driving the adoption of renewable energy, organic farming, and circular agricultural models, youth agripreneurs are expected to lead the transition to sustainable food systems. Their participation will not only curb unemployment but also strengthen national disaster risk reduction (DRR) and environmental sustainability agendas,” Office of the Prime Minister explained.
The Strategic Plan also highlighted OPM’s commitment the empowerment of local communities to grow their own food using adaptive, climate-smart, and ecologically sound farming methods. The document explained that by promoting decentralised food production alongside practices such as soil regeneration, water conservation, and biodiversity protection, the approach aims to enhance sustainability and reduce dependence on external food sources.
“Localised, sustainable food systems not only boost food security and community resilience in the face of disasters but also align with national sustainability and environmental protection goals. This initiative paves the way for the government to design and implement agricultural projects that are inclusive, green, and disaster-resilient,” Office of the Prime Minister explained.
