Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Minister of Works and Transport, Veikko Nekundi, has officially inaugurated the newly rehabilitated Homs River Bridge in Warmbad, //Kharas Region.

“Today marks the inauguration of a structure that embodies resilience, innovation, and progress. Its rehabilitation guarantees increased safety for all road users, enhanced durability against recurring flood damage, dependable connectivity among communities, markets, and services, and sustained economic activity within this vital region of our country,” the minister said.

The Roads Authority (RA), which spearheaded the initiative, noted that the Homs River Bridge had previously suffered severe damage due to flooding and structural weaknesses. The authority described the newly rehabilitated bridge as a significant step forward in Namibia’s drive to develop resilient infrastructure that ensures safe and consistent access for local communities.

“The bridge, once plagued by flood damage and structural distress, now stands as a testament to our dedication to overcome adversity. The rehabilitation project has empowered it to withstand future flooding, ensuring that it continues to facilitate mobility and safety for all,” RA added.
