Africa-Press – Namibia. YOUNG people in the Zambezi region are receiving guidance on possible career paths at the education and career expo currently underway at the Katima Mulilo Sport Complex.

The expo started on 1 August and will continue until Saturday.

It is held under the theme ‘Unleashing Educational Potential through Maximum Exposure’, and is spearheaded by Kangaroo Empire CC in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, Arts and Culture.

Kangaroo Empire’s spokesperson, Pasval Elijah, says the youth in the region will have the chance to explore career opportunities other than the usual teaching or nursing options.

She says the Zambezi region is strategically located and has many potential investment opportunities, which could create jobs for the region’s over 40 000 schoolgoing children once they complete school.

“These figures clearly indicate the need for and potential of exposure and opportunities by bringing services to the needy. The expo will give pupils and students an opportunity to meet institutional and service providers to establish and discuss potential career paths and job opportunities within diverse markets,” Elijah says.

She says the expo hopes to attract pupils, students and school dropouts interested in exploring and developing their skills.

She says it is also a good opportunity for different institutional service providers to showcase their products and services, including tertiary, vocational and nursing schools, as well as the Namibia Qualifications Authority and the Namibia Students Financial Assistance Fund.

She says the organisers believe hosting this event would have a positive impact in the lives of future generations.

“To ensure growth and sustainability, we intend to have this as an annual event,” she says.
