Africa-Press – Namibia. Eight regions are set to benefit from the Chevron and Palms for Life agreement, which aims to eradicate poverty, combat malnutrition, and improve general health in Namibia.

According to Beatrice Bienvenu, Chevron Namibia and West Africa Country Manager, the programme is projected to benefit 15 750 Namibians annually, of which 3 150 vulnerable people will receive nutritious meals daily. Beneficiaries include children under five, as well as pregnant and nursing women.

“Seeing nutritious school meals being provided to pre-schoolers in rural communities highlighted the initiative’s role in supporting education and demonstrating government’s efforts against malnutrition,” said Bienvenu. She added that the programme is a prime example of Chevron’s commitment to strengthening communities where it operates by working with trusted partners to deliver both immediate assistance and lasting pathways toward food security. Chevron’s support builds on Palms for Life’s establishment in Namibia and leverages existing early childhood development centres according to Bienvenu.

She also noted that the programme is fully aligned with the Namibian government’s national priorities, ensuring sustainability and complementarity with public-sector efforts. By addressing urgent needs while supporting community development, Chevron and Palms for Life aim to protect the health, food security, dignity and future of thousands of Namibian families.

Palms for Life executive Ddirector Hannah Laufer-Rottman said the initiative will reach Omaheke, Oshikoto, Kavango East and West, Otjozondjupa, Omusati, Kunene and Zambezi regions.

“This is an important opportunity to further the government’s social priority programme of feeding the most vulnerable communities in Namibia in the most dignified way. It is important to engage private companies in social development via public-private partnerships. Palms for Life will do our utmost to ensure Chevron’s donation fulfils its objective,” said Laufer-Rottman. She noted that the initiative complements national priorities to reduce malnutrition and strengthen resilience in vulnerable communities.
