Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibian Handball Federation (NHF) recently hosted a development workshop at Oshakati, where the regional leadership was established.

The workshop at Oshakati Youth Hostel on 28 May forms part of the NHF’s nationwide development initiative.

The newly installed Northern Region Handball executive committee was picked from 112 participants from the Ohangwena, Oshana and Omusati regions.

It consists of Johan Roelofse (president), Letufika Kamati (secretary general), Medusalem Shikongo (treasurer), Nestor Tamuti, Immanuel Uugwanga, Ndahafa Kweenda and Hendriene Alfred.

“The focus is to develop the game of handball within all 14 regions. When that is finalised, the NHF will look into the training workshops for technical directors and coaches of every region, who are to personally train schools in their regions and form clubs to prepare for regional games, as well as national competitions,” said NHF president Issy Nakamwe.

At present, the national handball mother body has 210 affiliate members through the regional structures, and four clubs, of which two already existed and the rest were recently formed.

The NHF is a member of the International Handball Federation, Namibia Sports Commission and Namibia School Sports Union.
