Africa-Press – Namibia. The Walvis Bay Corridor Group (WBCG), as one of the leading agencies in the provision of a sustainable employee workplace as well as community-based health and wellness interventions within both the public and private sectors in Namibia, recently collaborated with FP du Toit Transport and Gendev Fishing Group to conduct employee wellness campaigns in Windhoek and Walvis Bay, respectively.

These campaigns, conducted in April 2024, aimed to provide employees with comprehensive health and wellness services. Among the voluntary services provided were health education and awareness, health risk assessment, blood pressure (hypertension) screening, HIV testing services (HTS), Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP), Anti-retroviral Therapy (ART), sexually-transmitted infections (STIs) screening and treatment, body mass index (BMI) screening, cholesterol screening and blood sugar (glucose) screening.

The WBCG reached a total of 628 employees with these campaigns, comprising 372 employees from Gendev Fishing Group and 256 employees from FP du Toit Transport.

Providing employees with wellness services at work is one of the tools that all companies can use as a secret weapon in fostering a supportive and productive work environment.

Employee wellness programmes promote a positive and healthy work environment, enhance employee productivity and organisational performance, and improve the company’s brand and reputation.

Hence, companies are encouraged to mainstream employee wellness programmes into their day-to-day operations and incorporate a wider range of wellness services.

Effective workplace wellness programmes should, therefore, encompass preventative health packages, health education and awareness, physical wellness, as well as mental health support for employees.
