Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Nafidi Town Council is expected to host a candlelight vigil in honour of the late President Hage Geingob on Tuesday at the town’s business expo in Omafo.

This will precede the special Ohangwena Regional memorial service slated for Wednesday at the Eenhana sports complex, where inhabitants are expected to pay their respects to the late President Geingob, who passed away two weeks ago at the age of 82.

Town Mayor Darius Shaalukeni hailed the late President Geingob as the people’s President who believed in inclusivity amongst all Namibians.

“Late President Geingob was a blessing to the people of Namibia, and we have precious memories that we shared with the late President Geingob as a town, such as the Eshoke Chula Chula winning the Dr. Hage Geingob cup, and the team was graced by his presence,” he said.

He added that the late President Geingob was an architect of democracy, a champion of peace and always remained young at heart as he considered the youth to be the biggest assets in the country.

Shaalukeni then called on the inhabitants of Helao Nafidi to come and pay their last respects to the fallen giant of the country.

Late President Geingob will be laid to rest on February 25, 2024.
