Africa-Press – Namibia. PARTS of Namibia are expected to experience very hot conditions and isolated thundershowers today, while residents of Uis face temporary water supply interruptions following power outages caused by heavy rainfall, authorities have said.

According to the Namibia Meteorological Service, interior areas will be sunny and very hot in the south, while elsewhere conditions will be partly cloudy and hot to very hot. A few to isolated thundershowers are expected in places over the northern regions. Along the coast, the weather will be partly cloudy and mild to warm, with morning drizzle forecast in parts of the northern and southern coastal areas.

Moderate south-westerly winds are expected, becoming fresh to strong south-easterly in the south at times.

Authorities continue to urge the public to prioritise safety, especially when travelling near rivers or flood-prone roads, as the rainy season continues.

Meanwhile, the Erongo Regional Council has warned residents of Uis of ongoing water supply interruptions. In a notice issued on Friday, the council said NamWater is currently unable to pump water from the Nei-Neis system due to power outages caused by recent heavy rainfall.

As a result, some households in Uis are already experiencing disruptions to their water supply. Residents who still have limited water have been urged to use it sparingly while efforts are underway to restore normal operations.

The council said further updates will be communicated as soon as more information becomes available and thanked residents for their patience and cooperation.

On social media, some residents elsewhere in the central regions reported heavily clouded skies without rainfall, including areas about three kilometres from Okahandja.
