Africa-Press – Namibia. LÜDERITZ Mayor Phil Balhao has announced his resignation both as Mayor and as a member of the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC). In a statement addressed to the Lüderitz community, stakeholders, and project partners, Balhao expressed gratitude for the support and collaboration he received during his tenure.

“It has been the honour of a lifetime serving you all. Thank you for your trust, collaboration, and unwavering support. Your dedication to our town has inspired me every day, and I am grateful for the memories, lessons, and progress we’ve shared,” Balhao said.

He added that he remains optimistic about Lüderitz’s future and intends to continue contributing to the community through other initiatives and opportunities.

Balhao also extended his heartfelt thanks to those who stood by him during challenging times, acknowledging their support as instrumental throughout his term.

“Your encouragement carried me through some testing times,” he said, signing off with, “Yours in development.”
