Africa-Press – Namibia. The Roads Authority will make mobile testing stations available at Rundu, Ongwediva and Otjiwarongo for the remainder of the festive season.

“The stations will support law-enforcement operations and promote road safety awareness during the festive season,” the Roads Authority says in a statement.

The stations allow authorities to assess the roadworthiness of vehicles at road blocks.

They were stationed at Mariental during the first week of December and at Swakopmund during the third week of December.

The testing stations will be set up at Rundu from 31 December to 4 January, at Ongwediva from 6 to 8 January, and at Otjiwarongo on 10 and 11 January, the authority says.

“Mobile roadblock testing applies only to vehicles that are selected or required to be tested at that point. If your car already has a valid roadworthy disc, you will not be forced to retest unless there’s a clear issue or legal reason identified during the inspection,” it says on Facebook.

The testing stations are also available to educate members of the public on keeping their vehicles safe and roadworthy.
