Africa-Press – Namibia. NUMEROUS places across the interior of the country experienced moderate to heavy rainfall this week, with more expected over the coming weekend.

The Otjozondjupa Region notably stood out for its rainfall this week. Otjiwarongo recorded an impressive 40 millimetres (mm) of rain between Wednesday and Thursday morning alone. The town’s impressive rainfall can be seen in several photos and videos shared on Facebook by weather enthusiasts, celebrating the town’s heavy rainfall this week.

However, Otjiwarongo is not the only place in the Otjozondjupa Region that received rain this week. Okondjatu, Otavi, and Grootfontein also received rainfall, although not as intensely as Otjiwarongo.

The Otjozondjupa Region was also not the only one boasting impressive rainfall this week. In fact, Farm Welgelegen in the //Kharas Region surpassed Otjiwarongo, recording a remarkable 70mm of rain between Tuesday and Wednesday alone.

Beyond these regions, several other areas in the north, west, east, and centre also received some rain this week.

In the North, Omusati Region’s Omambuumbuu recorded 20mm of rain between Tuesday and Wednesday, while Oshana Region’s Oshakati and Kunene Region’s Okangwati received 17.4mm and 12.9mm of rain respectively during the same period.

In the West, Erongo Region’s Omaruru received 16.2mm of rain between Monday and Tuesday, while the East witnessed Omaheke Region’s Okomumbonde receiving 9mm of rain between Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

Khomas Region experienced lighter rainfall compared to other regions this week, with Okahua and Windhoek receiving 3.5mm and 1.2mm of rain respectively earlier in the week. Fortunately, the Khomas Region can anticipate more rain showers this weekend, as predicted by the Namibia Meteorological Services, which highlighted Windhoek as one of the places in the region likely to see rain showers.

However, the Namibia Meteorological Services forecasted that this weekend’s showers will predominantly concentrate on the north-eastern parts of the country, with Rundu highlighted as one of the areas expecting rainfall.
