Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC), in collaboration with the Namibia Sport Commission (NSC), has launched the Namibia Podium Performance Programme (PPP) — a groundbreaking initiative under the African Union Sport Council (AUSC) Region 5 aimed at strengthening athlete development and preparation for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games and beyond.
Delivering the keynote address on behalf of Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sports, Arts and Culture, Hon. Dino Ballotti, the Director of Sport Development, Jo-Ann Manuel, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to building a sustainable and high-performing sport sector.
She urged sport federations to strengthen their administrative capacity, reduce overreliance on government funding, and adopt innovative approaches to better support athletes across the country.
Now in its sixth edition, the Namibia Sport Expo continues to stand as a testament to the shared commitment of MEIYSAC and the NSC to advance sport development nationwide. The partnership with the MTC Dome — Namibia’s only accredited private high-performance centre — further underscores the Expo’s importance as a hub for collaboration, bringing together athletes, administrators, and sport leaders from all 14 regions.
The Podium Performance Programme unites MEIYSAC, the NSC, and the Namibia National Olympic and Paralympic Committees (NNOC & NNPC) under one coordinated framework to identify, nurture, and support athletes from grassroots to elite levels, ensuring they are fully equipped to compete and succeed on continental and global stages.
The ministry reaffirmed its commitment to empowering federations, promoting innovation, and fostering sustainable partnerships that place athlete development at the centre of Namibia’s sporting progress.
