Africa-Press – Namibia. NAMPOWER has introduced a new administrative system which has cut costs by about N$8 million, managing director Simson Haulofu this week announced.

He said the company’s integrated strategic business plan for 2020 to 2025 aims to focus on technological advances in their product offering to meet the future demands and expectations of customers and employees.

“In pursuit of this goal, NamPower’s information services division saw the successful implementation of a company-wide migration from the SAP ECC system to SAP S/4HANA – a next-generation go-to business suite for developing an intelligent enterprise,” he said.

The company’s SAP system users demanded a simple and flexible system that would help automate business processes. The new system offers a host of valuable benefits, such as embedded real-time analytics, an intelligent and powerful user experience across all devices with SAP Fiori, faster response times, and better performance with the SAP HANA database.

NamPower can now adopt new technologies such as machine learning, robotics, and the Internet of Things in its business processes, a statement from the company reads.

Furthermore, the system guarantees the improvement and automation of business processes, which will in turn increase productivity and better utilisation of the system to unlock new business value.

With embedded analytics, NamPower expects to have a better visualisation and awareness of business-process key performance indicators to drive performance.

It is common industry practice to use external service providers to implement or upgrade enterprise resource planning systems, the utility says. This is due to the complexity and high risk of failure of these intricate processes.

However, NamPower has broken new ground by being the first corporation in Namibia to implement the SAPS/4HANA system. This exercise has saved the company millions of dollars in implementation fees, it says.

A migration of this magnitude is estimated to cost close to N$12 million in consultancy fees. By using its own skilled SAP support team, NamPower has saved about N$8 million, the company’s statement says.
