Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Namibia Diamond Trading Company (NDTC) today unveiled the first graduates of the Diamantaire Enterprise Development Programme (EDP).

The EDP was launched by NDTC to assist in the development of the wider diamond industry and future customers. The program focused on broadening the scope of beneficiation in the local diamond value chain by identifying, creating, and supporting opportunities. Furthermore, it aimed to increase the participation and ownership of Namibian citizens in the diamond processing industry across the entire diamond value chain.

NDTC Board Chairperson Estelle Tjipuka, speaking at the Strategic Briefing and EDP Graduation, explained that the Diamantaire Enterprise Development Program (EDP), launched in November 2023, is a pioneering initiative designed to increase Namibian participation and ownership within our nation’s diamond sector.

“Throughout this tailored program, you’ve undergone intensive training, covering everything from technical skills in diamond processing to the intricacies of global market dynamics and sustainable business practices. This comprehensive approach ensures that you are well-prepared to lead with integrity and innovation. Your respective journeys within the diamond industry have just begun. NDTC has exposed you to the opportunities, but you need to take these opportunities and grow your businesses to the next level. One of the key objectives of Namibia’s 5th National Development Plan (NDP5) is to achieve economic progression for Namibians through inclusive, sustainable, and equitable growth,” Tjipuka said.

She further extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates of Dash Diamonds and Tate Diamonds, respectively, the two EDP beneficiaries. “Your respective journeys through the Razcorp Business and Leadership Development program have equipped you with the necessary tools, skills, and insights to thrive in and transform the diamond industry. You are not just business leaders; you are pioneers of a new era for Namibia,” Tjipuka said.
