Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Okahao Mayor Cornelia Iiyambulua and her deputy, Julia Katoole, were awarded the Adel Women of Council medals by Minister of Urban and Rural Development Erastus Uutoni for serving the Council for nearly two decades.

Uutoni handed over the medals during the ceremony of the 70 houses handed over in town by the National Housing Enterprise (NHE) on Thursday.

According to Uutoni, the two leaders have demonstrated their commitment and love for this community by giving or serving for the past 18 years uninterrupted as municipal councillors of Okahao to this very day.

“It gives me great pleasure to note that the mayor and her deputy are indeed great servants of this particular community,” he said.

Thus, Uutoni said, in order to thank and appreciate their dedication and commitment toward the development of the community of Okahao, the council took a resolution to bestow upon them the titles of Adel Women of Council.

He then stressed that the medals signify the appreciation of the leadership of Okahao and the entire community for their continued service for this community.

Further, Uutoni said, with the mayor and her deputy’s wealth of experience and knowledge of local authority matters, he believes the Council will rely on them for assistance and guidance in matters of good governance and to assist others in municipal leadership and community development matters as you have learned over the many years.
