Africa-Press – Namibia. THE Director of the Johannesburg-based Brenthurst Foundation and best-selling author, Dr. Greg Mills, recently launched his latest book entitled “Rich State, Poor State” in Windhoek.

The launch of this book was supported by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Namibia – Angola Office as partners of the Brenthurst Foundation. According to KAS, the book’s purpose is for the author to offer solutions drawn from years of fieldwork in Africa, Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. KAS further explained that the book also seeks to chart a potential path for the leaders of the future generation.

“Mills investigates the how and why of successful or failed development endeavours across numerous continents he has visited, drawing on research from prestigious institutions and interviews with prominent global government figures, including prime ministers, presidents, and other important figures,” KAS explained.

“Rich State, Poor State” also argues that by making wiser choices, implementing appropriate policies, and possessing the determination to put them into action, the journey from poverty to prosperity becomes entirely feasible.

Dr. Mills is a renowned author with an impressive portfolio of best-selling books. His books include titles such as “Why Africa Is Poor,” “Africa’s Third Liberation,” “Expensive Poverty,” and “The Ledger: Accounting for Failure in Afghanistan.” He also worked with Former President Olusegun Obasanjo of Nigeria to write “Making Africa Work: A Handbook for Economic Success.” Mills’ writings have won him the Recht Malan Prize, which recognizes the best nonfiction book written in Afrikaans or English.

In addition to his literary pursuits, Dr. Mills holds the position of Head at the Brenthurst Foundation, based in Johannesburg, South Africa. Established in 2005 by the Oppenheimer Family, this foundation is dedicated to enhancing African economic performance and advancing the causes of peace, justice, and solidarity. The Brenthurst Foundation collaborates with a range of experts, policy specialists, and senior government officials both in Africa and beyond to provide novel insights into African development.

He previously served as the national director of the South African Institute of International Affairs and spearheaded numerous reform projects across Africa. Moreover, he played a pivotal role as a member of the Danish Africa Commission and as part of the high-level panel on fragile states for the African Development Bank.
