Africa-Press – Namibia. Anti-Corruption Commission investigator Andreas Kanyangela says that Namgomar Pesca SA received fishing quotas totalling 50 000 tonnes in Namibia, but it is not a registered company and was only used to get quotas for the benefit of the accused in the Fishrot case.
He was testifying on the fourth day of Fishrot accused Ricardo Gustavo’s bail hearing in the High Court. Kanyangela recounts that according to whistleblower Jóhannes Stefánsson there was an agreement that the Samherji fishing company group would pay 75% of usage fees for fishing quotas obtained by the entity Namgomar Pesca SA to a company of James Hatuikulipi, Tundavala Invest, in Dubai.
The Namibian company Namgomar Pesca Namibia received payments totalling N$38 million from a Samherji company, but declared income of only about N$9 million to the tax authorities, the witness says.
Two Samherji companies paid US$4,1 million into a bank account of James Hatuikulipi’s company Tundavala Invest in Dubai, says Kanyangela. Quotas received by Namgomar Pesca SA were fraudulently awarded, for the benefit of the Fishrot accused, he states.
