Africa-Press – Nigeria. The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Borno State has dismissed claims that certain aspirants have been “anointed” ahead of the upcoming local government elections scheduled for December 25, 2025.
Bello Ayuba, the State Chairman of the party, said the APC has formally informed the Borno State Independent Electoral Commission, BOSIEC, of its readiness to participate in the polls, adding that all necessary arrangements were being made to ensure transparent primaries across the state’s 27 local government areas and 312 wards.
Ayuba noted that four key committees, Sale of Forms, Screening, Appeal, and Reconciliation, have been constituted to oversee the election process. The Sale of Forms Committee has already begun issuing nomination forms free of charge to party members aspiring for chairmanship and councillorship positions.
“The Screening Committee will verify all documents submitted by aspirants, a process that will take about one week before the conduct of primaries,” Ayuba said.
He emphasized that even where only one aspirant seeks a position, committees will still be established to affirm the candidate’s popularity and acceptability among members.
Ayuba reiterated that the party remains committed to internal democracy, fair competition, and a level playing field for all aspirants.
“The APC in Borno is fair to all. No one has been denied access to nomination forms, and every aspirant is treated equally,” he said.
