PDP has lost direction’ – Rep member resigns from party

Africa-Press – Nigeria. A lawmaker representing Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, Sadiq Abdullahi, has announced his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Announcing his resignation on Monday, Abdullahi cited the party’s deepening internal conflicts and what he termed loss of direction as the primary reasons for his departure.

This is after what he described as a prolonged period of factionalism that has undermined his ability to effectively serve his constituents.

His resignation comes shortly after that of the former National Secretary of the party, Sunday Udeh Okoye.

Abdullahi, a Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency, FERMA, announced his resignation in a letter addressed to his ward chairman.

“The persistent internal conflicts and factionalisation within the PDP, which have culminated in a prolonged party crisis, are adversely affecting my ability to effectively represent my constituency and perform my duties optimally.

“I wish to sincerely thank the PDP for the privilege and opportunity to serve under its platform. The support, trust, and experiences I have gained during my time with the party have been invaluable,” Abdullahi stated.

DAILY POST reports that the twin resignations come amid growing discontent within the PDP over its handling of internal leadership disputes and strategic direction ahead of future elections.
