Africa-Press – Nigeria. The Niger State Police Command has rescued three more children, including a five-month-old baby, and arrested three additional suspects in connection with child trafficking in Nasarawa State and Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, in a statement, this brings the total number of rescued children to nine and the number of arrested suspects to 11.

The police PRO explained that the latest arrests and rescues are part of an ongoing investigation into the case of alleged abduction and child trafficking referred to the SCID Minna for discreet investigation.

The case involves one Mrs Victoria Ebunoha Chukwumezie, who was arrested around Dikko Junction on November 5, 2025.

He added that three additional suspects were arrested by operatives of the command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit in connection with the case on November 28, 2025, within the Nasarawa–Abuja axis.

The three suspects include Chioma Onyanja, 45, of Nyanya, Abuja; Joy Ndife, 48, of Kurudu area, Abuja; and Olusegun Isaiah Anjorin, 44, of Orozo area, Abuja.

The three rescued children, all reportedly stolen from Gajere, Tafa in September 2025, are Saifullahi Abdulmumini, five months old;

Possible Danlami, four years old; and Safiya Mamman Sani, one year and six months old.

Abiodun disclosed, “Saifullahi, five months old, was found in the residence of one Chioma, who claimed that she got the child sometime in August 2025 through her pastor, one Evangelist Rosemary, operating Divine Majesty Church, Nyanya, Abuja. Rosemary claimed the child belonged to a student who was desperate to give the child up for adoption and convinced Chioma, who paid N2.7 million for the child.

“Possible, four years old, was traced to the residence of one Mrs Joy, who claimed that she operates an orphanage home and a children’s school called Emmavies located around Mararaba area of Nasarawa State. She stated that Victoria, the prime suspect, came to her house in early September 2025 and advertised a baby whom she claimed was unwanted by her mother. As Joy could not afford the child, she planned to facilitate the sale of the child to another unsuspecting mother when she was arrested.

“Safiya Sani, a year and half old, was rescued from the residence of one Pastor Olusegun of Covenant Fulfilment Ministry, Masaka, Nasarawa State, who claimed to also operate Elohim Orphanage and Benevolent Care Centre, Orozo, Abuja. He revealed that Victoria brought the child to the orphanage on September 11, 2025, stating that the child belonged to a young girl who had abandoned the baby in her care and could not be located. She added that she was facing financial hardship and needed help to cater for her and six other children. After negotiation, the pastor paid one million naira for the baby.”

The command further stated that all three children were successfully rescued unhurt and reunited with their parents, making a total of nine recovered children found at various locations and eleven suspects in custody.

The rescued children include Muhammadu Hussaini 4; Kasimu Saidu, 4; Idris Saidu, 2;

Ummi Kairi Salisu, 3; Goodnews Sunday, 4; Rahmat Mohammed, 2; Saifullahi Abdulmumini, 5; Safiya Mamman Sani, one year and six months; and Possible Danlami, 4.

The suspects arrested so far include Victoria Chukwumezie, 40; Harrieta Obiakor, 50; Divine Sunday, 43; Rosemary Ogbulogo, 46;

Vincent Emmanuel, 41; Rose Nwabufor, 70;

Chioma Onyanja, 45; Joy Ndife, 48; Olusegun Isaiah Anjorin, 44; Leo Ugochukwu, 55; and Ngozi Ugochukwu, 45.

The Niger State Police Command spokesman added that further investigation is ongoing to recover other missing and trafficked children, as well as to facilitate the possible arrest of other receivers or accomplices.
