The Ogun State Government on Wednesday approved the Southwest security outfit “Operation Amotekun” bill.
The decision was taken at the State Executive Council meeting held at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s office, Oke Mosan secretariat, Abeokuta, the state capital.
DAILY POST had reported that governors from Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, and Lagos States respectively had recently in Ibadan launched the security outfit.
The Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi had explained that Amotekun was established to tackle the menace of insecurity in the Southwest.
Despite the explanation of the state governors, the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami had described the security outfit as illegal.
He had explained that Amotekun had no constitutional backing.
