Africa-Press – Nigeria. The 12-man All Progressives Congress, APC, membership revalidation team has arrived in Osun State to begin revalidation of party chieftains ahead of the 2026 gubernatorial primary election.
The Osun State Working Committee, SWC, of the party has now directed all local government and area office chairmen to provide full support to the visiting team and state coordinators throughout the exercise.
State APC Chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, made the call while hosting the team led by Malumi Dolapo John, Deputy Director of Elections Management, Organising Department, at the APC National Secretariat, Abuja.
Lawal, represented by the State Secretary, Alao Olabisi Kamoru, assured the visiting team that the state chapter had made all necessary arrangements to ensure the smooth conduct of the exercise.
He said the revalidation was a vital step in maintaining a credible and updated membership register in preparation for upcoming party activities in the state.
Team leader, Malumi explained that the ongoing exercise was not a registration of new members but a verification of existing members across all local government areas.
Malumi stated that every member must be a financial member of the party to retain full participation rights.
“This exercise is aimed at confirming our authentic members and ensuring that our records reflect only active participants of the party.
“Any credible member of the party must pay ₦200 per month for one year, and such members have the right to contest for any position,” he added.
He noted that the revalidation process was also necessary to account for changes in membership.
“Some members have left the party, some are dead, while others have joined. We have a mechanism for verifying payment and confirming active membership,” Malumi explained.
The team leader emphasised that ward secretaries, ward organising secretaries, and other local officers would play key roles in implementing the revalidation across the state.
He disclosed that the exercise, which began on October 20, 2025, is scheduled to conclude on October 31, 2025 in line with directives from the APC National Headquarters.
According to the team, the membership revalidation is part of nationwide preparations for the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial primary election.
