Africa-Press – Nigeria. Despite the economic downturn and security threats bedeviling Nigeria, Christians have been urged to continue speaking positive words to the country as such would someday bring about good impact.
Founder, Solid Rock Kingdom Church, Akwa Ibom State, Apostle John Okoriko who gave the admonition, Easter Sunday, in Uyo during his monthly Interactive Service themed: ‘’What You Say, You Become,” stressed that speaking positively about the country does not stop one from engaging in constructive criticism about government for accountability and good governance.
Speaking through the Secretary General of the Church, Dr Linus Uko Enang, the cleric stated that every negative word spoken has the same effects on any person who utters such words either against himself or children, family, community and nation at large.
Okoriko who emphasized the potency of spoken words and the need to be positive about it stated that God in Genesis 1:2-3 used words for creation and Jesus Christ also during the time of his crucifixion pronounced his resurrection in three days and all those words came to pass.
According to him, “The world wouldn’t have celebrated Jesus today if he didn’t say anything positive in the midst of his suffering, torture, crucifixion on the cross as he had told the disciples that he would resurrect not minding his predicaments in the hands of his accusers.
“Let the poor say I am rich and let the weak say I am strong, what we say even in the days of tribulations matters in our lives. What we say is not a mere sound but it is filled with power whether negative or positive. Remember, we would account for every word we speak on the Day of Judgment, which could be today. I am not saying we should sing praises of our leaders when it is not necessary but be constructive in your criticisms”
He observed that many marriages have hit the rocks, families separated and communities at war because of negative and unguarded utterances even as he warned Nigerians to stop confessing negativity about the nation as such words de-market Nigeria and bring misfortune to the people.
The cleric recalled that one of the thieves on the cross with Jesus was saved and remained in paradise while the other spent his eternity in hell because of what they said to Christ respectively.
He also urged the youths not to be discouraged by the economic situations or societal issues and resort to negative thoughts, words saying God has a way of making them to pull through the situation if only they can confess positively.
