Fadojoe Declares Presidential Bid for 2027 Election

Africa-Press – Nigeria. Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, popularly known as Fadojoe, a former Labour Party presidential aspirant, has officially announced his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 elections.

The declaration comes amid his vow to “rescue Nigeria” from what he described as economic decline, insecurity, and ineffective governance.

In a statement shared over the weekend by his Media Adviser, Rev. Emmanuel Olorunmagba, in Kaduna, Fadojoe emphasised that he is entering the race not as a member of the political elite but as a son of the soil committed to addressing the struggles of ordinary Nigerians.

Fadojoe was sharply critical of key economic policies under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, particularly the removal of the fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange rate.

He argued that these measures were implemented without proper planning or social safety nets, resulting in skyrocketing fuel prices, higher transportation costs, surging food prices, rising rents, and increased electricity tariffs.

“Millions of Nigerians are now forced to choose between feeding their families and commuting to work,” he said.

On fiscal policy, Fadojoe accused the current government of excessive borrowing, asserting that it had incurred more debt than any previous administration, despite rolling back fuel subsidies.

Regarding national security, Fadojoe described a country gripped by fear, where kidnapping, banditry, and terrorism have become rampant.

He denounced the payment of ransoms to kidnappers, stating that such practices only empower criminals instead of deterring them.

Fadojoe also criticised Nigeria’s education and healthcare systems, highlighting that youth unemployment has reached alarming levels and that medical emergencies often result in death due to underfunded hospitals and underpaid medical personnel.

Reflecting on past political moves, Fadojoe revealed that he had stepped aside during the 2023 presidential race to support Peter Obi.

He expressed disappointment that Obi has since allied with political actors he believes contributed to the country’s ongoing challenges.

The former Labour Party aspirant also announced plans to establish a people-driven ‘Rescue Movement,’ engaging youths, workers, professionals, farmers, traders, and members of the Nigerian diaspora.

He insisted that his campaign would not rely on political godfathers or wealthy financiers, emphasizing a grassroots approach to national leadership.
